Finding Vivian Maier

I believe that every people who get in touch street photography know this name: Vivian Maier. The director, John Maloof bought Maier's film box from an auction. He began to develop, scan, print, and exhibit her works. Then, he started to trace her life. To his surprise, Maier never showed her photographs to public, and she was just a nanny.

After watching this film, I found that everyone described Maier not only paid careful attention to her privacy but also she got along with most children very well. I can see humor from children and sadness from the poor in her photographs. For me, she was excepted but also afraid to get in touch with people. No matter what happened, she just captured them and put her negatives in her film box without edit and words.

Perhaps, for isolated and low-profile Maier, her camera was her diary. Maybe she tried to public herself? Or maybe, she could not stand the spotlight.
